Frequently Asked Questions
Got Qs? I have As.
What is a money coach? How are you different than a financial advisor?
In reality, I’m both.
I’m a financial advisor – I help you make sound financial decisions on your debts, your lifestyle and your financial goals.
I’m also a money coach – I provide support and guidance throughout your money transformation.
Most traditional financial advisors will meet with you and then provide a suite of financial tools to invest in to reach your goals.
When I worked in the financial services sector and as an advisor, I found there was a huge disconnect between goals on paper and the day-to-day reality of how we handle our money.
As a money coach, I provide strategies and monthly support to first optimize your cash flow, then provide recommendations for how to reach your financial goals.
Money Fix Pro and Money Fix for Business clients join a private Facebook group where I provide weekly tips and lessons to help you stick to your plan and guide you when you’re struggling.
As a result of the combined advising and coaching, my clients see remarkable transformations on their debt, saving and spending.
I have also been in your shoes: I’ve managed numerous successful businesses and I’ve dealt with successfully digging out of family and business debt. I have used – and continue to use – the tools and systems I teach in my own life and business. Because I’ve lived through my own challenges, there’s truly no judgement here.
Here are my qualifications: BComm in Finance, 20 + years working in Financial Services, LLQP, Canadian Securities Course, Certified Profit First Professional.
Do you work on commission? Are you going to “sell” me an investment portfolio?
If you decide you’d like to invest in the market or purchase insurance, then I can make recommendations on products and features. You can decide to work with me or I can refer you to colleagues and other professionals. Either way you will have the plan you need to purchase the right financial products to support your goals.
Many of my clients have a relative or friend who’s a financial advisor or insurance provider. You don’t need to “break up” with your financial advisor – unless you want to!
How do you work with clients?
I work with clients on their personal, household and business spending and financial goals.
For Money Fix Pro and Money Fix for Business, I follow this process:
Step 1: Book a free intro call to chat about your challenges and goals – it’s a chance for you to ask me questions and see if we’re a fit
Step 2: Analysis & the Plan. If we decide to work together, we’ll have a follow up call where we dig deep into your financial realities and goals. You’ll provide some financial information and I’ll undertake a financial assessment. I’ll create a financial spending plan for you. Then we’ll hop back on a call (or meet in person) to walk through the plan together.
Step 3: Implement the Plan – Your 30-day Cash Transformation. For 30 days, you’ll follow the plan. I’ll be available to you to answer any questions and provide coaching and support as needed. At the end of those 30 days, we’ll meet again to review progress and discuss how you’d like to continue towards your financial goals
Step 4: Ongoing support. I want to see you succeed. We will have monthly follow-ups and meetings to ensure you’re on track. We can continue working together for as long as you need.
Speaking & Training: I’m also invited regularly to lead workshops or speak about money management, financial systems and Profit First. Please contact me to inquire about speaking opportunities.
What kind of clients do you work with?
I like working with people who are willing to consider new ideas and take action.
I work with students, singles, families and small business owners.
I primarily work with female entrepreneurs and their families, but I support many people through my speaking, workshops and the Money Fix Solo.
I only work with people and businesses I know I can help, which is why our process begins with an Intro Call.
If I can’t help you, I’ll let you know and direct you to other resources.
You’re not going to make me give up Amazon or Aritzia are you?
Many of my clients are terrified that once we dig into their finances I’ll make them change the way they want to live.
The beauty of working with a money coach and the systems I teach is that we build a plan that’s customized to you, your life, and your financial goals.
Whether you like online shopping or fine wine, we will create a solution that will work for you and your specific needs, wants and desires. That’s the only way to be successful and sustainable over the long term.
Will you be perfect 100% of the time? Of course not!
Birthdays, holidays and back to school might cause you to waiver from your program. BUT! You will now have the tools to get back on track, and I’m there to coach you each step of the way.
